Video: Salisbury City V Sutton United
Sutton United visited for Salisburys final home league match of the season. The Whites would be looking for revenge after being humbled 5-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
The game could not have started in a better way for Sutton, with their first foray forwards they took the lead after a mix up in defence. Craig Watkins was the quickest to react and slid the ball past the on rushing Puddy.
Salisbury battled back and showed spirt, though the real turning point of the game was the sending off of Sutton ‘Keeper Scriven after 37 minutes. Dan Fitchett was first to the ball and Scriven tripped Fitchett as he was clear through on goal, leaving referee Charles Breakspear little option. Scriven was replaced by Wayne Shaw, in the latter stages of the first half made some excellent saves.
Salisbury equalised very early in the first half with Marvin Williams getting his first goal at the Ray Mac. Salisbury with the man advantage started to take the game to the visitors, though Sutton always looked dangerous on the break. The home supporters had to wait until the final 10 minutes of the game for the score line to be made look comfortable. Williams completing his first competitive hat-trick and breaking his Ray Mac scoring hoodoo in style.
These are the final match highlights from the first season of whitesTV. It will be back next year with the addition of whitesRADIO which will provide live commentary from both home and away matches. We will also be releasing a weekly podcast on Fridays to review the Whites week. Thanks for all the help that I have had from people at the club this year especially Geoff Cain, Alec Hayter and of course Darrell and Mikey for coming out and being as open as they can in sometimes difficult circumstances. The biggest thanks has to go to Mark Winter and Michaela Menzel from Aqua One for backing a complete unknown, and for their continued backing into next season when things will be bigger and better than they have been this season.
Highlights are below and are followed by interviews with Darrell Clarke, Mikey Harris and Marvin Williams
