Victory for the Whites
Salisbury City continued their winning start to the season with a victory over local rivals Bashley. First half goals from Ben Joyce and Darrell Clarke resulted in a hard fought 2-0 result.
The Whites started very brightly and were rewarded with a sharp instinctive finish from Joyce in the 12th minute following a corner from the right hand side. The large contingent of Salisbury fans did not have long to wait for the next goal as two minutes later Clarke struck a great shot from the edge of the box. Salisbury had chances to increase their lead with McLaggon, Giles, Joyce and Addelsbury all going close. With Ben Adelesbury’s 30 yard free kick crashing against the bar.
In the second half Bashley had plenty of the possession, but were unable to turn this into serious threats on Salisbury’s goal. Their best efforts came from long range shots which Pryce dealt with comfortably. Salisbury looked dangerous on the break and created chances from set pieces.
The final whistle saw Salisbury record their second win of the new season. The Whites manager Darrell Clarke said “This was a hard fought victory, Bashley made it difficult for us and I am pleased to have come away with three points. Our attention now turns to preparing for the trip to Cambridge City on Saturday.”
The Whites next game is away to Cambridge City on Saturday 21 August 2010, kick off at 3.00pm.
