Clarke is ready for Pompey

Darrell Clarke is hugely looking forward to welcoming Pompey to the Ray Mac tomorrow afternoon in his side’s last pre-season friendly.

City’s boss has been pleased with his side’s progression during their pre-season account so far and admits tomorrow gives the lads one last battle to earn their starting XI place ahead of the new season.

“The team have done well so far and their fitness levels have been excellent.

“There are still plenty of places up for grabs come the first day of the season, and tomorrow gives everyone a chance to earn their shirt.

“I’m not too bothered about the result, the most important thing is that the players perform to a high level and they give it everything.”

Despite the financial happenings going on at Fratton Park, manager Michael Appleton will be keen to get a good performance out of his players before their League I campaign kick-starts.

The match kicks off at 3pm, and we would love to see as many of you as possible to come and support the Whites!

Clarke added: “It would be great if we can record a good gate at the Ray Mac tomorrow, as always, it helps boosts the finances of the football club.”
