Poole Town v Salisbury Match Report
Poole Town 1-1 Salisbury City
SALISBURY CITY earned a share of the spoils in a well-contested pre-season friendly against Southern league side Poole Town on Tuesday night.
Jamie White opened the encounter from the spot inside 16 minutes and two minutes after the interval, Poole responded to earn a draw as Lamin Dibba scrambled home from close-range.
When Theo Lewis was brought down inside the area, it provided Jamie White with the perfect opportunity to open his goal scoring account, neatly tucking away his penalty into the bottom right-hand corner.
Then, debutant Cameron Hough and White had clear-cut chances to extend Salisbury’s lead, but both newcomers squandered their shots.
Chris McPhee also threatened the Poole keeper after he darted his way into the box but fired into the stands.
However, the Whites made a sluggish start after the restart and a lack of concentration resulted in Dibba bundling home an equaliser.
And Poole could have stolen the game through Steve Devlin’s well-struck efforts, which were consequently thwarted in fine style by new keeper Mark Scott.
Whites’ boss Darrell Clarke said: “I was pleased in the first-half, yet we need to be a bit more clinical in-front of goal, which is obviously disappointing.
“But there’s some promising signs yet again.”
City are next in action on Friday night (7:45) at home to League I newboys Swindon Town, and Clarke is hoping to record a big attendance at the Ray Mac.
He added: “I’m really looking forward to it.”
“Paulo has said he’s bringing his starting XI down which will be fantastic and it will be great if we can get as many fans to the Ray Mac as possible.”
Whites: Puddy, Udoji, Dutton, Matthews, Hart, Lewis, Sinclair, McPhee, Hough, White, Fitchett.
