Match Preview: Play-Off Final – Hednesford (A)
Salisbury City will take to the field tomorrow afternoon in hopes of winning promotion from the Zamaretto Premier League.
The Whites finished the season third placed in the league and were drawn against fourth placed Cambridge City at the Ray Mac. A goal from Charlie Knight was enough to see the Whites through to the play off final, and just one match away from a place in the Conference South.
Standing between them and any dreams of promotion are Hednesford Town who finished runners up in the league. They disposed of Leamington in the other play-off semi final in a 3-1 home victory. Salisbury lost 3-0 in their first ever league defeat earlier in the season against the Pitmen, however Darrell Clarke’s side made amends at the Ray Mac with a 2-1 win.
Tomorrow league form is irrelevant. It is winner takes all over one game with a huge prize for the victor. The Whites will need to draw on the good cup experience gained in performances against Lewes, Basingstoke, Weston Super-Mare, Woking and Wrexham this season- all higher league opposition that were overturned by the men in white.
It’s thought the ever-present barmy army will once again back their team tremendously, with some supporters arranging their own coaches and mini-buses in order to attend. Another demonstration of just how much support this team has behind them.
Kick off for tomorrow’s unmissable final is at 3pm.
Full radio commentary should be available on BBC Wiltshire and online.
Updates throughout the match will also be available on the club’s Twitter page.
