Match Preview Highworth Town (A) FA Cup Q1
Salisbury travel to Highworth Town this Saturday as the sides meet in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.
While Salisbury are playing their first fixture of this year’s competition, the hosts beat Melksham Town and most recently, Bournemouth Poppies 2-0 away from home to reach this stage.
Highworth Town ply their trade in the Hellenic Premier Division and have won two and lost three of their five league matches this season.
Salisbury have made a good start to life in the Zamaretto League with four wins and three draws. After a confident display against Cirencester, the team look to continue their positive start to the season.
Talk to Darrell Clarke about the FA Cup and he’ll be quick to tell you of his playing appearance in front of 40,000 fans at the Stadium of Light in the third round proper in 2004. Yet with this his first FA Cup fixture as White’s boss, he looks forward to the match and is keen to suggest his team will be firmly focussing on the job in hand.
“We go into the match full of confidence after our good result and the lads have done well in training, but we go into this with great respect for the opposition. While the FA Cup is a special competition, we have to treat it like any other match and we know we’ll be made to work hard at Highworth.”
Kick Off is at The Elms at 3PM.
