First Team Profiles

These are the player profiles for the current 2010/2011 season for Salisbury City football Club.

  • DARRELL CLARKE (PLAYER/MANAGER) – Following the departure of Team Manager Tommy Widdrington to Southend United before season 2010/2011, Darrell was appointed Team Manager after having acted as Caretaker Manager alongside Mikey Harris. Darrell is an experienced midfielder who started his career at Mansfield Town where he became a first team regular. He has also played for Hartlepool United, and had loan spells at Rochdale and Stockport County. He signed for the Whites in June 2007, and has a major role in Salisbury’s Football in the Community project. Darrell is currently working towards his UEFA ‘A’ License coaching badge.
  • MIKEY HARRIS (ASSISTANT MANAGER) – Mikey was appointed Assistant Manager after a short spell in a caretaking capacity, he holds a UEFA ‘B’ License coaching badge and has a degree in Sports Science. He is also responsible for the Club’s nutrition, hydration and fitness strategies. Mikey is registered as a player and can play anywhere in midfield or at full back.
  • MICHAEL NEISH (Goalkeeper) – Started his career with Bristol City Academy before joining Weymouth, during which time he represented Dorset County. He is remembered at Weymouth for a save at the end of their game against Hampton & Richmond in season 2009/2010, that gave the Terras their first victory of the season.
  • RYAN PRYCE (Goalkeeper) – Signed during the January 2010 transfer window, the Salisbury-born ‘keeper, who was previously with AFC Bournemouth, had to wait patiently for his chance during season 2009/2010 but that patience has now been rewarded with a contract at Salisbury City.
  • TOMMY SMITH (Goalkeeper) – A new signing in July 2010 from Portsmouth, Tommy started at Reading FC at the age of 9, and progressed with them. He enjoyed short spells with Watford and Fulham where he was offered a pro contract by the Cottagers, but turned this down in favour of a move to Portsmouth. On his reserve debut he saved a penalty against Charlton Athletic, and remained a regular in their reserves until the end of season 2009/2010.
  • RYAN BRETT (Defender) – Young defender who joined the Whites at the beginning of season 2010/2011. Ryan was one of only three youth players to be awarded a professional contract by Plymouth Argyle at the start of season 2009. Ryan can play either at left back or centre back.
  • DAN SHEEHAN (Defender) – Joined the Whites at the beginning of the 2010/2011 season from Swansea City, where he was awarded a first year professional contract. Dan is a capable and mobile defender who likes to get forward and has an eye for goal.
  • JAMIE TURLEY (Defender) – Vice-captain. The young defender was attached to Wycombe Wanderers before joining the Whites in July 2009. After a full season in the Blue Square Premier Jamie has established himself as a formidable central defender.
  • CHRIS GILES (Defender) – Team Captain. Chris joined the Whites in January 2010. He is a Welsh-born player who brings a wealth of experience to the side having played for Yeovil Town, Aldershot, Forest Green Rovers and Crawley Town.
  • CARLTON COX (Full-back/midfielder) Carlton enjoyed a two year scholarship with Aldershot Town and was also a member of the English Schools team that reached the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup, before being released by Aldershot. He was involved in pre-season training with Conference South Maidenhead United before joining the Whites in August 2010.
  • CHARLIE KNIGHT (Full-back/midfielder) – Having started his career at Southampton, Charlie re-joined Salisbury City from Bashley at the beginning of the 2010/2011. He also had a brief spell at Dorchester. He is a quick, talented left sided player with an excellent delivery.
  • BEN ADELSBURY (Midfield) – Ben earned a contract with the Whites in February 2010. His career includes spells with Plymouth Argyle and Swansea City. Ben established himself as a regular in the successful Blue Square Premier League in 2009/2010, scoring some fantastic goals.
  • JOSH CASEY (Midfield) – Started his career with brief involvement with Reading and Southampton, but then earned a two year scholarship with Aldershot Town, following which he joined the Whites in August 2010.
  • BRIAN DUTTON (Midfield) – Brian is a Yorkshire-born experienced midfielder who re-joined the Whites the day before the start of season 2010/2011. He started his playing career at Pickering Town, and has played at centre forward and centre back at various times. His career includes spells at Cambridge United, Weymouth, Harrogate Town, and latterly Northwich Victoria from whom he returned to Salisbury for a second time.
  • BRADLEY GRAY (Striker) – A promising young striker, Bradley was with Leyton Orient during seasons 2007/08, and 2008/09. Had loan spells at St Albans and Blue Square Premier Grays Athletic.
  • BEN JOYCE (Striker) – Ben, who joined the Whites at the start of season 2010/2011, impressed in pre-season friendly matches. He has previously been on the books of Aston Villa, Plymouth Argyle, Swindon Town, Torquay United and Boston United.
  • KAYNE McLAGGON (Striker/Wide) – Joined the Whites from Southampton at the beginning of season 2010/2011 after being released in May 2010. He has represented Wales at U19 level on six occasions, and whilst with the Saints was awarded a pro contract in 2007. He made his debut for Saints in 2008 and made seven appearances. He had a short loan spell at Eastbourne United before returning to Southampton.
  • MATTHEW WRIGHT (Striker) – Matt’s career includes spells at Swansea City, Plymouth Argyle, and latterly Crystal Palace where he was handed a one year deal by well-known Manager Neil Warnock. A tall, powerful striker, he was loaned to Woking and Maidstone in season 2009/2010 playing in the Conference South play off final, and joined the Whites at the beginning of season 2010/2011.
  • ADAM KELLY (Winger) – Adam is a pacey winger with an eye for goal who joined the Whites after a successful season at Bashley, where he played in every league and cup game of the 2009/2010 season.
  • JASON SILVER (Winger) – Jason signed for the Whites at the beginning of the 2010/2011 season. A highly rated player who had a spell with Havant & Waterlooville, Jason has electric pace and an eye for goal.
