The Whites are very pleased to announce that, subject to final confirmation from the FA, Football League, and the Football Conference, they have extended Conor Gough’s loan until 2nd January 2012.

Delighted Manager Darrell Clarke said “We’re now in a very good position, with two excellent young keepers fighting for the first team shirt, and both are available to play for us in the FA Cup and FA Trophy.

“I am extremely grateful once more to Charlton Athletic for helping us with Conor.”

Conor Gough put in an excellent shift at the weekend, as did the whole team, which resulted in an away point at Woking.

The next fixture is Home against Poole Town FC on Saturday 15th October.

The Whites are pleased to announce that old Salisbury favourite Robbie Matthews has agreed to join the club on loan.

Robbie Matthews will join the Whites, initially on a month loan, from Newport County of the Blue Square Bet Premier league.

The loan is currently subject to completion of paperwork and approval, and international clearance will need to be granted to make Robbie eligible for selection for tomorrow’s match.

Fans will remember Robbie for his past involvement with Salisbury City, and Manager Darrell Clarke is pleased to see him return.

“We’re really pleased to bring Robbie back for a month, it will definitely freshen up our attack.

“We’re a quarter of the way through the season, and I’m not too happy with our points total. We need to improve as a team.

“If that means bringing a couple of new faces in to improve, then I will.

“I’d like to thank the Board for allowing this loan signing to go ahead.”

The photographs are of Robbie and Darrell this morning at the Ray Mac.

The Whites can now confirm that they have taken 18 year old Lewis Stockford on loan from Championship side Portsmouth FC, and the talented midfielder will be available for Salisbury’s trip to Bromley on 10 September.

Manager Darrell Clarke was pleased with the loan for more than one reason: “Lewis is a highly rated youngster at Portsmouth, and a bonus is that we are developing a very strong relationship with his Club. We will be playing games against them behind closed doors as part of our training regime, and would like to thank their management for helping us on this occasion. I am sure that relationship will be of future benefit to both clubs.

“We are pleased that we now have cover for midfielder Stuart Anderson, whose injury could keep him out of action for maybe 5 or 6 weeks.”

The club are delighted to announce that Callum Hart has agreed a contract which will keep him at the club until the end of the season.

Hart rejoined the Whites in the Summer on a non-contract basis following a short injury-hit spell at the end of last season.

Assistant Manager Mikey Harris, said “Callum has been one of our most consistent players since he returned for pre-season.

“He has an excellent attitude and we are over the moon he has committed to us for the rest of the season. Both the gaffer and I would like to express our gratitude to the board for allowing us to complete the deal.”

Callum Hart expressed his delight, saying “For the first time in a while I am really enjoying my football.

“I’d like to thank the gaffer and Mikey for giving me another opportunity to be full time, and I hope that I can help the club move forward.”

Kyle Haynes

Salisbury City FC regret that the loan of Kyle Haynes from Cheltenham Town will not now proceed due to unforeseen circumstances.

Luke Ruddick

The Whites are very pleased to announce that their former defender Luke Ruddick has re-signed, and should be available for the opening game of the season against Thurrock on Saturday, pending formal ratification by The FA and the Football Conference.

21 year old Ruddick was a first team regular until he joined Bath City of the Blue Square Bet Premier, for whom he played last season.

Manager Darrell Clarke said:” Luke is a very good defender and an excellent addition to our squad, and he makes a very welcome return to SCFC. He was very popular with the fans in his first spell because of his winning mentality and I’m sure that in his second spell with us he will be an even better player. I wish him every success.

“I would like to take this opportunity to record my thanks for the tremendous support that the Board of Directors has given me regarding all of our Summer signings.

“We have, thanks to them, assembled a strong squad which I am confident will compete well in our new surroundings. Exciting times are ahead.”

Picture thanks to Graham Briant.

The club are pleased to announce that Mark Stanton has agreed to be our Strength and Conditioning Coach for the upcoming season. Mark holds a Masters level degree in strength and conditioning from Middlesex University, as well as a degree in Sports Science from Brighton.

Mark spoke to us about what his role will entail on a day-to-day basis:

“As strength and conditioning coach, my role is to ensure players are physically conditioned to perform at the top of their game. I want the players to get to the ball first in all situations. This involves increasing strength, speed and agility, while developing efficient movement patterns to avoid injury.”

Assistant Manager Mikey Harris is delighted to have Mark on board, saying “Out of all the people that were interviewed, Mark was the stand-out candidate. His input and knowledge will help to ensure that our players are in the best possible condition to perform week in, week out.”

Mark joins the club on an internship for the season, bringing his valuable experience and expertise to the Whites at no cost to the club – fantastic news for the players, staff, and the fans.

The Whites kicked off their pre-season training today, with blistering heat adding to what Manager Darrell Clarke says will be a tough pre-season programme:

“I’m delighted that the players are back in for the first day of pre-season training,” said Darrell.

“The boys have had fitness programmes to adhere to over the Summer up until now, and they’re looking like they’re in great shape.”

The Whites have an exciting series of pre-season friendlies, with a range of home and away matches including exciting fixtures against Bristol Rovers and Bath City.

Spirits in the camp are high, according to Darrell:

“This will be one of the hardest pre-seasons that we’ll have, but the lads are in great spirits and looking forward to the Bristol Rovers home game on Monday – a 7:45pm kick-off.”

Darrell also revealed to us that there are a number of trialists training with the club today, who he is keeping a close eye on and who will be playing a part in the pre-season friendlies:

“We’ve had 12 trialists here today who I’m having a look at, including Tom Evans (Swindon last season), Josh Searle (Exeter last season), Ethan Phillips (Exeter last season), and a few more with a good background.”

“We’ll be evaluating them over the new couple of weeks. We’re still looking to bring 2 or 3 players in to fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle and make sure we’re ready for the coming season.”

Squad list

Players retained from last season:

Ben Adelsbury
Stuart Anderson
Ryan Brett
Josh Casey
Brian Dutton
Dan Fitchett
Chris Giles
Callum Hart
Adam Kelly
Charlie Knight
Mike Neish
Jake Reid
Tommy Smith
Matthew Wright

Players released:

Ben Joyce
Kayne McLaggon
Ryan Pryce
Jason Silver

We wish all those players the best of luck in their career and thank them for their efforts on our behalf for last season.
